”Cabeça” is the most well-known work by the elusive Santa-Rita Pintor, probably dating from 1910 or 1912. Influenced by analytical cubism and Italian futurism, this portrait (reminiscent of African masks, like in certain Picasso paintings of the same period), according to Joaquim Matos Chaves, may represent the brother of the painter, poet Augusto de Santa-Rita. The painting currently belongs to Secretaria de Estado da Cultura / Ministério da Cultura de Portuga.
